Le Guin's first science fiction novel, was first published as a paperback original 'Ace Double' (with a novel by another writer) in 1966. The first separate edition was a hardcover edition for libraries in 1975, which was published without a dust jacket. This is technically the second hardcover edition published in 1977. 

This is also the first of the Hainish novels, a cycle that ended with The Left Hand of Darkness and The Dispossessed. With a new introduction by Le Guin written for this edition and with a few textual changes. 136 pages. First printing of this edition, with a numberline ending in 1. Signed by Le Guin. 

CONDITION
A fine copy in a fine dust jacket. The colours to the unclipped jacket are excellent with no fading to the spine which is common with this edition. Cloth binding very good. Pages immaculate throughout. No previous ownership marks. Overall a very fine copy, perfect for the purist collector.
