Just a short stroll from Edinburgh’s Botanical Gardens you'll find The Gently Mad, a friendly and welcoming bookshop & bookbinder. The shop was opened in 2012 by Rab Mullin, who was quickly joined by son, Baz.

Entering our shop is like stepping back in time, it’s quirky, charming and has the distinctive smell of old leather volumes and dusty books.

We love people to come in and browse and chat and are always happy to help
you find what you’re looking for.

We always carry a wide selection of Natural History, Children’s illustrated, books of Scottish interest, Architecture, Classic Fiction, Science, etc.

We also sell a range of 19th century mounted prints, vintage postcards, and a small
amount of antiques and curios.
