The Story Of The Volsungs & Niblungs with Certain Songs from The Elder Edda

By William Morris & Eirikr Magnusson

Published by George Prior, London, 1980. Facsimilie of the 1870 first edition. 8vo. Blue cloth hardback binding in pictorial dust jacket. 275pp. Translated from Icelandic.

Synopsis

This translation of the most complete and dramatic form of The Great Epic of The North.
As the author wrote in his preface, 'This is the Great Story of the North, which should be to all our race what the Tale of Troy was to the Greeks'. It was these Icelandic sagas which inspired him to write his much acclaimed and very beautiful prose romances, which in turn were the inspiration for Tolkien's 'Lord Of The Rings'.
