Attractively bound in full red morocco with striking gilt decoration to front and rear boards with gilt ruled border. Five raised bands, gilt detail and gilt titles to spine. Measuring approx. 19cm x 14.7cm x 1.6cm. Gilt top edge, the rest handcut. Internally beautiful gilt ruled and decorated turn-ins with red silk endpapers to front and rear. Tiny binders stamp to bottom edge of front turn-ins (Bound by Zaehnsdorf 1914) and tiny blind stamp to base of inside front board. Red morocco bookplate (W.A. Foyle, Beeleigh Abbey*) to inside front board, and another to front blank (Mexborough). Original gilt illustrated red cloth front wrap bound to rear. Colour illustrated frontispiece, illustrated title page a further 13 full page colour plates.
CONDITION
In fine condition. The leather binding is in very good condition with no damage. Inner and outer hinges secure with no cracking. Endpapers very good. All contents present and pages in very good condition throughout. No foxing, stains etc. Overall a finely bound edition in lovely condition.
