Published by Edinburgh University Press in 1995, first edition. In green boards with gold titling, the book measures approx. 10 3/4" x 8 1/4" with [v] and 168 pages and numerous illustrations.
Chambered cairns are among the earliest architectural achievements of the peoples of Scotland. In this comprehensive volume covering the county of Sutherland, 72 cairns are described in detail following field visits. There are expanded accounts of those sites that have been excavated, and in most cases new plans have been prepared. It is an indispensable reference source for the Neolithic period in northern Scotland and for the study of megalithic tombs throughout western Europe.
CONDITION:
The book is in very good condition and is tight and clean inside with no inscription. The dustwrapper is also very good with light shelf wear. The spine is faded and top 1" of the front of the wrapper are faded.
