Lanterns Across the Snow
By Susan Hill
Published by Long Barn Books, 1998. First Edition. Signed by the author. Hardback book in slipcase. 71 pages. Delightfully illustrated by John Lawrence.
A delightful little tale of Christmas long ago. Told through the eyes of elderly lady Fanny, we find her reminiscing about Christmas at the turn of the twentieth century when she was just 9 years old. This is rural England in the raw and if it doesn't fill you with nostalgia, and a longing for the simple pleasures in life, then we'll be very surprised indeed. A lovely little tale.
