Printed, Birmingham, 1830. Thick 4to, library cloth binding, 135 pages of text, with 32 engraved views and an engraved title page, no extra printed title page with this copy. Bound in with this is 99 pages of cuttings which contain more text than the title its bound in with.
An interesting volume made up of the above title and with the other half of the book being a Collection of Shropshire Residences compiled in scrapbook form by a Frances C. Baldwin-Childe (see images)
The self-compiled half of the book is thicker than the above title it accompanies and spans 99 hand-numbered pages . . . there is an typed index at the front of the book for these bound-in pages
An amazing compilation of newspaper clippings and articles from magazines, engravings, and photographic illustrations, all relating to Shropshire residences . . a great wealth of information for those interested in the stately homes and houses of the part of England.
CONDITION
This book was once part of the reference department of Kidderminster Library, Museum and Art Gallery with one ink stamp to the verso of the title page, Engraved title page is browned with age, text pages good throughout, all 32 engravings present and in good condition with perhaps the odd light spotting to the outer margins, some of the plates have newspaper clipping to the backs . . . the second half of the book has been self-compiled as one would do with a scrapbook and is in good condition with all clippings in good condition
