First edition in English of the celebrated Russian-born physiologist's study on testicular grafting from monkey to man. The study is based on 52 operations, of which one was a human transplant. Voronoff reports an 88% success rate from the point of view of the patient's post-op physical and mental state, and a 65% success rate when physical, mental and sexual considerations are considered.Voronoff (1861-1951) was director of the Laboratoire de Chirurgie Experimentale at the College de France; early in his career (1896 and 1910) he worked in Egypt studying eunuchs for the developmental effects caused by castration. Studying under Alexis Carrel, Voronoff became accomplished at transplantation, which remained the focus of his life's work.
