Published by William Mackenzie, London, undated, c1885. Large 4to, recently rebound in moire silk bookcloth, marble endpapers, vii, 536pp, 96pp. Lovely colour title page as well as a letterpress title page. With 14 colour plates and 14 anatomical plates. 5 sheep/pig plates.
The text for this book first appeared in sixteen monthly parts, issued between 1868 and 1869, before being published in several undated editions in quick succession, accompanied by plates by the sporting artist Benjamin Herring.
CONDITION
A very good copy. The recent cloth binding is very good. Endpapers good. All contents present. First few pages have some light spotting but text very good throughout with perhaps the odd spot hear and there. All plates present and in good condition. Overall a lovely copy.
