La Belle Jardiniere French Clothing Calendar for 1898

Issued as a promotion for a leading chain of clothing shops in Paris, Lyon, Marseille and five other French cities. Original and decorated in colour Art Nouveau portfolio sleeve.

This calendar in an art nouveau portfolio measures 27 x 21 cm. There are twelve separate full-page colour plates (all present) printed on glossy stock by prominent and less known Belle Epoque artists, depicting a variety of scenes, such as the charming five singing children by Boutet de Monvel. A month by month list of artists follows, January through December respectively: Henri Boutet de Monvel, Leon Sabattier, Maurice Orange, E. De Monzaigle, Paul Destez, Felicien De Myrbach, Reichan, Leon L'Hermitte, A. Parys, Emile Caran d'Ache, Leopold Kowalski, and Luc-Olivier Merson. Each plate has two puched holes at upper margin as issued for silk thread ties.

CONDITION
In very good clean condition. The lithograph cover is in very good condition with no tears or damage and with sharp corners. There is a very faint crease to the front cover. All 12 plates present and in very good condition. The original silk tie to hold the plates together is present and all the holes that the string feeds through are intact with no tears. Overall in fine condition.
