The Tragara Press was perhaps the principle private press in Scotland and was remarkable for the number and range of texts that it published over the last fifty years. All this work was the achievement of Alan Anderson.

Alan was born in Fife in 1922 started his working life as a banker. After war service in the Royal Navy he took a post at Grant’s, the leading antiquarian bookseller in Edinburgh and then bought the North Bookshop, specialising in limited edition and fine press books until he devoted himself fully to his private press.
