A unique copy signed to the front endpaper by Roald Dahl, and with a large inscription from Tessa Dahl "To Pippa - this is for your many children (you will have them, when you get married) - and Happy Happy Birthday, All my love Tessa X" January 6th 1973.

Although we have been unable to determine who Pippa is we could assume from the personal inscription that she was somebody fairly close to Tessa Dahl, who after inscribing the book has then got her father to sign it at the foot of the page (see images provided).

Published by Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1961. First Edition, Second State (with four-line colophon to last page). Hardback book bound in orange cloth and protected with its original dust jacket. Large 8vo, with 119 pages (last page not numbered). Illustrated by Nancy Ekholm Burkert.

CONDITION
A very good copy. The dust jacket has its original price of $5.95 intact and is in very good condition with just light rubbing to the spine ends and to the corners. The jacket is now protected in a removable mylar sleeve. Boards and spine are very good. All contents present and pages very clean throughout. Overall a very good signed copy.
