For subscribers only with a printed slip tipped in to the front of volume I which reads"This edition is specially prepaperd for Sunscription only, and is not obtainable through the general BooksellersSubscribers Edition".

Hardback books measuring 32 x 25cm. Cloth bindings over bevel-edged boards and titles in gilt. Gilt portrait of Dore to the upper boards. Gilt to all page edges. With 250 engravings by Gustave Dore.

CONDITION
In very good condition. The cloth bindings are very good with just some light rubbing in places and light rubbing to the spine ends. All endpapers good with some light age-toning and all inner joints sound and with no cracking. All four bindings tight and square. All contents present and pages in good clean condition throughout. No previous owner's marks of ownership and no writing to the books. Overall a very good set. Scarce.
