Published by Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner & Co, London, 1892. First Edition. 8vo, hardback, cloth, bevel-edged boards, gilt decoration, gilt to top edge, [xvi], 89, [3] pp, with fifty illustrations by Hugh Thomson.
CONDITION
A good first edition. The binding remains in good clean condition and the gilt decoration remains bright to both spine and upper board. Endpapers a little age-toned and there is an inscription to the front endpaper from Christopher Dobson, the grandson of Austin Dobson. All contents present. Some light spotting to the prelims and to a few pages.
Henry Austin Dobson, was an English poet and essayist. Hugh Thomson was an Irish Illustrator remembered for his pen and ink illustrations.
Christopher Selby Austin Dobson CBE (25 August 1916 – 22 December 2005) was an English librarian who was the librarian of the House of Lords Library from 1956 to 1977. Dobson was born in 1916 in Isleworth to Alban Tabor Austin Dobson (1885–1962), a civil servant, and Katharine Jean Selby Dobson. His father managed the literary estate of his own father, the poet and essayist Austin Dobson.
