For sale we have a scarce illustrated catalogue, published in 1931, and with a price list for all sorts of medical appliances, surgical equipment and dressing, glassware and chemist sundries, produced by Ayrton, Saunders & Co of Liverpool, whose buildings were on Hanover Street and Duke Street.
Ayrton Saunders & Co were a wholesale and manufacturing chemists, who were founded in 1868 in premises on Hanover Street in Liverpool city centre. The firm expanded and took premises in Park Lane (Liverpool) and Prenton (Birkenhead) as well as a branch in the Potteries. In the end the firm had to contract and the branches were closed, as did the fine building on Hanover Street, which still stands today.
BOOK DESCRIPTION
Hardback book with printed covers (front and rear), 4to (Approx A4 size), 340 pages, profusely illustrated with all sorts of equipment for chemists etc . . some in colour . . almost every page has several examples of surgical, medical and chemist's equipment. We have added quite a lot of images so please have a browse : )
For anybody interested in, or collecting chemist's equipment, medical glassware, vererinary appliances, then this book is a fantastic reference.
CONDITION
In very good clean condition throughout. The binding is good with the cloth spine good with no tears, the bottom front corner is a little worn. There is a hole to the top of the spine with a piece of original string that was used to hang the book (see last image provided). Internally very good throughout. No names or writing to the book. Pages very clean throughout. Overall in ecxellent condition.
