Published by Methuen & Co, London, 1935. Second and cheaper edition. (originally published 1934). Hardback book in very good and scarce original dust jacket. 280 pages.

Wonderful art deco dust jacket art by CWB . .  Cecil Walter Bacon (1905 – 1992), who signed his work "CWB", was a British artist and illustrator. Much of his work was in the art deco style.

CONDITION
A very good copy. The original jacket has no clipping and is in very good condition with no repairs. Boards and spine are very good. Endpapers clean. No writing or names to the book. Pages mostly clean throughout but a few pages affected by foxing (see last image for example of this). Overall a very good copy of what appears to be a scarce crime novel.

Cecil Freeman Gregg (1898 – 1960) was a British detective novelist. He worked as an accountant and secretary before devoting himself to writing.

In 1928 Gregg published his first novel The Murdered Manservant, featuring Inspector Cuthbert Higgins of Scotland Yard, a well-built fellow, but more inclined to reflect than to the action to elucidate criminal files that fall into his hands. This hero, who swears only through his work, returns to about thirty whodunits with very standard plots.
