Nansen's 'Farthest North' is an exciting travelogue relating back the author's experience while exploring and traversing the North Pole. The expedition starts with a voyage on the ship Fram and continues on with a fifteen months sleigh journey. When this text was translated from Norwegian to English, it garnered instant success and praise. Fridtjof Nansen was a Norwegian polymath who gained prominence throughout his life as an explorer, scientist, diplomat, and humanitarian. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for work which helped displaced war victims, particularly those from World War I.
