The author, Holmes, explains to the reader how lighthouses were built, harbours made, canals excavated, the steam-hammer invented, and other things, wonderful in fact, though now become quite familiar, were achieved. The section on lighthouses he mentions the Bell Rock Lighthouse. the New Eddystone Lighthouse, and Smeaton's Lighthouse wioth accompanying images.
CONDITION
In good condition. The cloth binding remains in good condition as can be seen in the images provided. The endpapers are in good condition with the front having a school board prize label pasted to it and dated 1897. All pages good throughout. All b&w illustrations present and in good condition. Overall a good copy.
