The Haunted Man
By Charles Dickens
Published by Bradbury & Evans, London, 1848. First Edition. 8vo, full leather binding, gilt to all edges, marble endpapers, Frontispiece, engraved title page as well as a letterpress title page, 188 pages, 14 illustrations in the text.
The Haunted Man is the fifth and final volume in Dickens' Christmas Books series. Like A Christmas Carol (1843), the first novella in the series, it focuses on the Christian spirit of Christmas rather than the holiday itself. Specifically, The Haunted Man tells the story of a lonely professor who is haunted by the sorrows of his past until he's visited by a spectral version of himself.
CONDITION
A very good first edition and handsomely rebound in full goatskin. The binding is very good, endpapers very good, all contents present and pages in good clean condition throughout. No foxing or stains. No names or writing to the book. Overall very good.
