An interesting natural and agricultural history of peat-moss or turf-bog, with details on the qualities of peat for agriculture, the methods used in Scotland for converting moss soils into arable and pasture grounds, and plantations of trees. The information included is presented both in the form of essays and from correspondence with numerous experts. Written by Andrew Steele, of Crosswoodhill, a member of the natural history and agricultural societies of Edinburgh.

CONDITION

A very good sound first edition. The leather binding has been rebacked at some point in the past but is good with strong joints and boards firmly attached. Original endpapers good. Text complete and pages clean throughout with just the very odd light mark. Overall a good first edition.
