Published by Hamilton, Adams & Co, London, 1861. First Edition. Slim quarto. 21pp. Vignette title + 11 full-page illustrations by John Faed, RSA, incl. tissue-guarded frontispiece. Original panelled green cloth with elaborate gilt floral design to upper board. All edges gilt. Patterned endpapers.
A good copy. The binding is good. Spine has a little damage to the bottom and a couple of small splits to the cloth hinge. Endpapers good. All contents present and pages good throughout with some light grubbiness to pages. See images.
John Faed (1819-1902) was a Scottish painter very popular in his day. His artwork can now be found in the National Gallery of Scotland and other museums.
