Original vellum, spine and upper board lettered and decorated in gilt, red, blue, and grey, illustrated endpapers, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Includes 16 colour plates heightened with gilt, vignettes in text, all illustrated by Evelyn Paul. Printed on japon.

Evelyn Maude Blanche Paul (1883 – 1963) was a British artist best known for her book illustrations, including those replicating the style of medieval illuminations. Her work shows a variety of influences including Gothic, Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts. Most significantly, the Pre-Raphaelite artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti has been identified as one of Paul's major influences.

CONDITION
Very good copy. The vellum binding is very good. Boards slightly bowing out. Endpapers very good. All contents present and text clean throughout and free from foxing, stains etc. No names or writing other than that of the artists signature. Overall a very good copy.
