Edited & arranged by Romer Wilson

With illustrations in colour & line by Kay Nielsen

This is Kay Nielsen's scarce fifth book, produced in a more modest format than the earlier gift books. With striking illustrations. Includes such classic fairy tales such as Bluebeard, Aladdin and The Six Swans, The Three Bears, etc.

Published by Jonathan Cape, London, 1930. First Edition. Hardback in original dust jacket. Red cloth with gilt lettering to the spine and top edge red. 368 pp. With 8 colour plates and numerous b&w illustrations by Kay Nielsen. The illustrations are all in Nielsen's distinctive Art Nouveau style.

CONDITION

A very good first edition. The dust jacket has a few small pieces missing from the edges as can be seen in the images provided but the price still remains intact on the inside front flap. The jacket is now protected in a removable mylar sleeve. The cloth binding is very good with no stains or damage. Font endpaper has a name written and dated Christmas 1930. All contents present and pages clean throughout and free from foxing, stains etc. All 8 colour plates in very good condition. Overall a lovely copy of this elusive Nielsen title.
