FIRST EDITION WITH PIANO SHOP LIBEL CASE
Published by The Hogarth Press, London, 1959. First Edition. This is the rare and correct first issue with the mention of 'a fire at the piano-works almost every year' to page 272 (see last image provided). This was subsequently removed in later printings. Inscribed and signed by the author. Hardback book in dust jacket, 8vo, 280 pages, illustrated by John Ward, as is the jacket.
CONDITION
A good first edition. The dust jacket is in good condition with a couple of chips to the edges and the price is clipped. The jacket is now protected in a removable mylar sleeve. Boards have a couple of marks to the edges of both boards. All contents present and pages good throughout. Front endpaper has a mark running down its length (see last image). Overall a very good first edition.
