Set in 1852, Professor John Worthington and his 15-year-old daughter Patience arrive in New York from Charlottesville to take over a shipping business left to him by his father. The professor leaves Patience at the ferry station, goes off in a can, and disappears! The events that follow move swiftly and the mystery is finally solved through the efforts of Patience. The setting gives the reader delightful and descriptive glimpses of New York of the middle 19th century.

CONDITION

A very good first edition. The dust jacket is in very good condition and is now protected by a removable mylar sleeve. All contents present and pages very clean throughout. No writing or names to the book. Overall a good copy of theis very scarce book (no copies at all online for sale, including print-on-demand outlets)
